Mama

Custom Serving Platter for Jamie-Claire

Mama always found a way to feed us and ten or twenty or thirty kids that gathered around our kitchen and deck and park-in-front-of-the-house. Not sure how she did it with her $20k-a-year-social-worker-salary. Food stamps, community donations, Trader Joes unbest but unexpired excess.

The food was served hot. Straight from the stove to the table, pot and all. The unlucky ones got served bowls. The lucky one ate from the pot, and got the charred crispies at the bottom.

Mama didn't always eat. She'd often forget. Or get too busy. Or just not feel like it.

This is a photo of Mama eating. I'd like to think she eats often and well now. With this serving platter, maybe I'll feed my community the way she did. (But I'll be saving the pot with the charred crispies for me)
